Apparently Nintendo’s not the only company taking note of common impairments. On Monday Amazon announced that its new Kindle 2 e-book reader will be more accommodating to the blind and to those with poor vision.
These changes will include an audio feature that can read the books and menu options aloud, as well as an extra-large font. This new model with low- and no-vision capabilities should be released this summer.
Wow, first Nintendo and now Amazon. We can’t wait to see which major company is the next to realize that not all users are the same.
It looks like manufacturers are starting to catch on that additional features, such as larger fonts or easy-grip handles, can appeal to even more users within key demographics – such as the elderly.
