The newest Contour Plus camera is pretty cool. It's tiny, meant as a helmet or POV camera, and shoots very high quality HD video with sound. Having used previous versions, they're really easy to use, one-button operation. The new one adds two things that are incredible. 170-degree field of view (rectilinear, not fisheye/barrel distortion) and bluetooth video out. The latter helps massively when setting up the camera. The older Contour cameras had none, just a laser-pointer-style leveling system to get you approximately what the camera sees. With the bluetooth video monitoring, you can use your iPhone, iPod or Android smartphone (coming soon) as a wireless remote monitor. You can precisely set up your shots. The front lens and sensor assembly rotates, so you can mount the camera any way you want. Want to rig it onto your grandson's bike for a cool point-of-view video? Under your truck for some off-roading? It's a snap and the possibilities are endless. Contour does also make optional mounting hardware to make it all easy. No matter where you mount it, built-in GPS will track precisely where you are, including altitude. Perfect on a nature hike. It can record 1080p at 30 frames per second, 720p at 60 fps (for great slow motion), and several frame rates on stills for shooting time lapses. The battery is removeable so you can have a spare around for longer run times, and it uses MicroSD cards (1x2GB is included) for easy recording and transfer to your computer.
