GoPro has a new Hero2 HD video camera. It offers a lot of great control and a beautiful picture (thanks to a redesigned lens) with a 170-degree field of view. It's tiny and fits into a waterproof case that can then be mounted on almost anything. This particular version comes with a base set up for easy attachment to a helmet. There are other mounting options for fastening it to your head (no helmet required), handlebars or just about anything else. It shoots full 1080p HD video as well as 720p (at 30 and 60 fps) and even standard definition video. You can even use it to shoot 11- or 5-megapixel still photos at up to 10 frames per second, or as a time lapse. I've used one of these cameras, the time lapse feature is amazing when you're using it to show an event being set up, capturing a fast sunset, etc. The camera, even in the housing, is very light, you barely notice it on your head. There are suction cup mounts for car windshields, clamps for almost anywhere, and more. It uses GoPro's fastening hardware, instead of a standard 1/4-inchx20 thread mount (for tripods and other industry-standard mounts), and their hardware isn't always the best, but it does work. There are optional extra battery packs and even an optional LCD pack for the back, so you can see your composition. This isn't always necessary, because with 170-degrees of view, you can see almost everything. For more information or to purchase a GoPro Hero2 HD camcorder, visit Amazon.com.
