Looking for a phone that stands out (a little) from the rest of the Android crowd? Motorola's Photon 4G smartphone has a very large, 4.3-inch display that is QHD, or quarter-High Definition, 960x540 to be exact, so it's crisp and clean. It stands out for that, and the fact that the edges are beveled instead of slightly rounded. The glass cover is Corning's "Gorilla Glass", which has proven to be very scratch- and shatter-resistant. Like the Evo and Thunderbolt, it has a useful kickstand on the back. From personal experience, this comes in handy when watching videos. It also has a mini-HDMI output, so you can mirror your display on your HDTV or play back movies or other streaming content. It uses the ubiquitous NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor, found in tablets and phones everywhere, which makes it quick and responsive. Front-facing camera is VGA for video chatting, and rear-facing camera is 8 megapixels for stills and 720p for video. Built in GPS and FM radio keep you informed and entertained. It's running Gingerbread (Android 2.3) and you have access to hundreds of thousands of apps via the Android Market. It's a GSM phone, running on Sprint in the U.S. but it plays well with other GSM carriers worldwide.
