Tony Donaldson takes a look at the new HTC Thunderbolt smartphone running on Verizon's rapidly expanding 4G/LTE network. The 4.3-inch 800x480 pixel display is stunning and very easy to read, and the native clock on the home screen is readable from almost any distance. The 4G data connection is a blazing fast one comparable to most high speed home internet connections. It run's HTC's Sense user interface over the easy-to-use and versatile Android operating system and can use all of Android's great apps. The 1 GHz processor means everything on the phone happens quickly. The front-facing camera works for video chatting, and the rear-facing camera shoots HD video and 8 megapixel stills. The focus can be set on any part of the screen, making it very easy to use, it's very clear even in lower light, and responsive enough to catch your kids or grandkids in action. It's not the lightest phone or certainly not the smallest, but some of us like having a phone that is substantial with solid build quality and it's well worth it for the screen size, features and speed. If you're looking for a smartphone that's easy to use, easy to see, easy to hear and easy to understand, not to mention fast and having a real cool factor, the HTC Thunderbolt is a good choice. .
