I wanted to tell you about the OATS Blog-a-thon. You did an article about OATS about a month ago and we were very pleased to see it. Our organization has worked hard for the past 4 years to get seniors online and connected to family and friends.

The 2009 OATS Blog-a-thon will encourage dozens of seniors to blog on our website http://www.SeniorPlanet.org throughout the month of May (Older American’s Month). Each senior will have their own blog and have friends and family sponsor each post. This is an opportunity for seniors to have their voices heard and to have their friends and family involved in the process.

I’d like you to be aware of a one-of-a-kind event, a Senior Expo, taking place on Sunday, May 31, 2009, at the Pennsylvania Hotel in Manhattan. For the attendees (seniors, almost seniors, and caregivers), there’ll be exhibits, presentations, information tables, free screenings, job fair for seniors looking for part-time work, door prizes, etc.

Our former three-term NYC Mayor Ed Koch will be the keynote speaker, and Dr. Fred Vagnini (specialist in preventing heart disease and diabetes problems, anti-aging, and weight loss; author and radio personality) will also be a featured speaker.

Everyone will receive a “resource directory for seniors” that will also be distributed to seniors and senior centers in the greater NYC-metropolitan area for the next year. In this resource directory, there’s advertising and also a listing of individuals and organizations offering products, services, and information of interest and value to seniors.

Your presence there on May 31st, whether as an exhibitor, presenter, advertiser, or via an information table will make ElderGadget known to thousands in the metropolitan area. Additionally, our directory will be distributed for an entire year to seniors and senior centers.

At a minimum, I’d like to offer ElderGadget a free listing in the resource directory. Let me know if you’re interested.
