The Kindle “with Special Offers” is now the best-selling of all Kindle products. This newest model debuted a month ago, and has clearly been popular with readers looking to save a few bucks. The device only costs $114, which is $25 less than the next cheapest model. In exchange for this price cut, however, consumers must contend with ads, special offers and sponsored screensavers. Prices and offers like these have kept the Kindle a top contender in the e-reader market. Not to mention the fact that Amazon’s Kindle must also compete with high-tech tablets like the iPad 2 or Samsung Galaxy Tab. While the Kindle can’t perform as many tasks as these tablets, it’s also priced much lower. The iPad 2 starts at $499, the Samsung Galaxy Tab, which just underwent a price cut in April, now goes for $199.
