Sony BRAVIA EX 700 Series 32-Inch LED TV, Black (KDL-32EX700)

Overview: Unlike digital cameras or smartphones, it is somewhat difficult to discern and point out elder friendly features. Because of the intricate physics and design involved, the characteristics that might appeal to seniors just aren’t always evident. Though, this is not true for all T.Vs; some just T.V’s just scream senior-friendly, such as the Sony Bravia KDL-32EX700.

Let’s start with the design. The Bravia is equipped with an easy-to-use swivel stand, which enables one to adjust the angle of the television without a hassle. Though if the opportunity comes where you actually have to physically move the unit, have no fear — it only weighs 23.6 pounds.

In terms of the interface, the Bravia is known for its intuitive interface: simple enough to navigate for seniors who might not be familiar with televisions. One of the real benefits is its motion sensor: if you leave the room for longer than expected it automatically turns off. Think of it like this: if you have to run out of the house in the midst of the emergency and forget to turn off the tube, the Bravia will lend a hand and help you save energy.

Competing with television that might be up to $2000 more expensive, the visuals hold their own. Look at the deep contracts — a nice feature for seniors who have a difficult time trying to discern certain images. The colors are also deep and accurate, nothing comes off as too bright. The picture quality isn’t necessarily top of the line and is going to straight-up “wow” anyone, but it pretty darn impressive for its class. This may not be the best T.V. available but for a reasonably priced Sony, it is undeniably a good buy for seniors.
