Honda demonstrated its prototype walking assist devices for the first time in the U.S. today. Intended to support the walking efforts of the elderly or people with weakened leg muscles, the devices are currently being tested in real-world conditions to evaluate their effectiveness. The company has applied for more than 130 patents for the devices, which were developed by teams of scientists and engineers who studied the walking patterns of humans. This data was then combined with the research and development of technologies conducted for Honda’s advanced humanoid robot, ASIMO.
