ElderGadget is your one-stop-shop for everything iPad-related. So we are excited to announce that the good folks at Apple have (finally) announced an official release date for their highly-anticipated tablet.

Circle your calendar; the date is Saturday, April 3rd. In case you don’t want to deal with the long lines, the chaos, and the possible shortages, we recommend that you go ahead and pre-order your iPad starting March 12th.

Apple also released updated information regarding iPad pricing plans:

$499 for 16GB Wi-Fi model
$599 for 32GB Wi-Fi model
$629 for 16 GB Wi-Fi+ 3G model
$699 for 64GB Wi-Fi model
$729 for 32 GB Wi-Fi+ 3G model
$829 for 64 GB Wi-Fi+ 3G model

We should note that the Wi-Fi + 3G options will not be available until late April. Regardless, these developments are very exciting for techies like ourselves. While we covered the demonstration and underwent a Kindle/iPad comparison , we can’t wait to get our hands on a physical iPad and actually play around with it. As we said before, it seems as if the iPad is equipped with its fair share of elder friendly features (nice big screen, lightweight, large touchscreen) but we won’t fully be able to give it the proper ElderGadget treatment until it is released. So, chances are you we will be at the Mac Store on April 3rd; maybe we will see you there.
