iPhone Apps for Seniors: LED Flashlights

by Max Baumgarten on July 7, 2010

Just when you thought you might have figured out all of the iPhone’s functions, here comes along two new applications that allow you to use the LED flash as a mobile flashlight:

LED Torch Flashlight – This bear bones flashlight app is quite simple to use and will help you navigate your way through a dark environment. It’s free to download from the App Store.

Ultimate Flashlight Ultimate Flashlight is a bit more complex than its counterpart but by no means is it difficult to use. It allows you to use the flashlight as a blinker if need be. Also, you can have the option to illuminate light in one of eight different colors; this helps to customize the artificial lighting source for the specific environment.. The app costs .99 cents to download from the App Store.

The benefits of having a flashlight on the iPhone are pretty indisputable for seniors: aging adults generally have a difficult time discerning images in the dark. An excess light can provide a visual crutch. This can help seniors safety get from point A to point B without hitting a wall or tripping over clutter. Also, if the power in your house suddenly goes out, no need to fret; your iPhone’s flashlight can function as a temporary light source. Talk about crafty.
