Botox, a drug commonly used to reverse the visual signs of aging, is extending its reach beyond cosmetic medicine. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently approved the use of the drug for treating muscular spasticity. Specifically, this treatment is appropriate for elbow, wrist, or finger spasms, which are experienced by individuals who suffer from strokes, traumatic brain injuries, or multiple sclerosis, all common among the elderly.
