iPad Apps for Seniors: VBookz
You know about iBooks. You also probably know about the Kindle app for the iPad. Well we would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to another library-esque app, VBookz. What is so special about VBookz? It features every public domain novel, with impressive text-to-speech functionality. The text-to-speech functionality is a great option for aging adults who want to get through a book but might have failing eyesight and need some sort of audio assistance. While the books are read in a robotic voice, the speech is pretty listenable and quite easy to understand. We should also note that with VBookz, you have the option to download 20,000 books, including classics like Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, and Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. If you didn't get around to reading these seminal novels when you were in high school, now is the perfect time to get around to digesting these works. And of course if you want to read a book, as opposed to have it read, that is an option as well. Educate yourself and download VBookz for $4.99; you can read each of the public domain books free of charge. vBookzBy - (iTunes Store)
