Siri and Scots just don’t mix, at least according to the
LA Times, which
recently reported on the difficulties this personal assistant has encountered in Scotland. As you can see in the video, Siri doesn’t do well with the thick Scottish accent.
Apple reps have reportedly asked Scots to keep working with the system, noting that its voice recognition accuracy improves as it learns your specific dialect. The
Times article notes, however, that many aren’t buying it.
While we feel Scotland’s pain, we have to admit we’ve had our own difficulties tackling this dialect in their fair country. Surely, however, if you’re going to offer a service like Siri, then it should work.
