Smartphone Newbs Choose Android Over Apple
Those who are upgrading from feature phones to smartphones seem to prefer Android, according to the NPD Group. New smartphone owners purchase Android-operated phones about 57 percent of the time, while iPhones are chosen only 34 percent of the time. The most likely reason for this is that the Android operating system is available on a variety of phones, including Motorola, LG, HTC and Samsung. Apple does, however, offer the most popular smartphones on the market, the group noted. Notice we said smartphoneS? That’s because the iPhone 4S, 4 and 3G all occupied the top spots, respectively, on the list of top-selling smartphones during the fourth quarter of 2011. The Samsung GALAXY S II and Samsung GALAXY S 4G rounded out the list.
