Teens value their privacy, as we all know, which is ironic, considering they share more intimate details of their lives than any other group, but whatever. While they’re happy to recount every in and out of their days to their friends, teens are not so happy to know their space has been invaded by adults. Once parents, aunts, uncles and, yes, grandparents started friending them on Facebook, many teenagers quickly made a run for it. Lots ended up on Twitter, which was a surprise to many analysts. The Pew Internet & American Life Project noted that the percentage of teens who use Twitter has doubled from 8 percent to 16 percent in the past two years alone. Experts believe the growth in popularity is due to a couple factors: teens don’t have to use their real names, they can have multiple accounts and they can follow their favorite celebrities.
