Queen Elizabeth, Apple fangirl
We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect spokesperson than the Queen of England herself, who recently admitted her fondness for the iPad 2 after it was shown to her by her grandsons. According to Britain’s DailyMail, Prince William and Prince Harry initially introduced the Queen to the iPad 2.
Both boys own the device, and took turns showing off what its amazing features to Queen Elizabeth. Soon after, the DailyMail reported that the 85-year-old queen was “so impressed with the touch screen device that she immediately ordered staff to buy her one.”
The paper also noted that William and Harry think it’s “hilarious” how fond their grandmother has become of the device. "They love the fact that their gran wants an iPad and think she's really cool," the DailyMail said.
Others close to queen noted that she also appreciated the tablet’s light weight, large screen and intuitive design — we couldn’t write this stuff ourselves if we tried!
This isn’t the Queen’s first Apple gadget, however. She’s owned an iPod since the device was introduced. The DailyMail noted that the Queen updated to a state-of-the-art iPod in 2005 that could hold about 1,500 songs. Pres. Barack Obama also gave the Queen an iPod when he visited London in 2009.
Now, if the 85-year-old
Queen of England has the time and patience to let her grandkids show her a new gadget, we hope you seniors will extend the same courtesy to your grandkids — and to the technologies that can make life just that more fun and interesting!
