With the plethora of web browsers around, web users the world over are scratching their collective heads wondering what exactly is the difference between them. In our ever evolving and increasing online lives, choosing the correct browser to use is becoming increasingly complex. Since the very first web browser was introduced in 1991, the Browser has undergone significant changes and improvements. Whilst all browsers fulfill the same function, namely to browse the World Wide Web, they all have something different to offer. So let's explore the world of web browsers.
Internet Explorer
Without a doubt Microsoft's Internet Explorer is the world's most recognized browser and has been around in some version or another since 1995, and whilst figures differ, roughly half of all internet users use this browser. The latest version is IE8; which features major improvements in speed, security and compatibility. Whereas in the past, IE has been criticized for it's frequent and chronic problems, Microsoft's latest version is certainly a vast improvement over its previous versions. Even so, some reviewers are still unimpressed with its performance. In our opinion, it is still unwieldy, clunky and doesn't offer a lot of the useful options and extensions that other browsers offer.
Mozilla Firefox
The poster child for everything a browser should be, Mozilla Firefox has been showered with praise since arriving on the scene in 2004. Mozilla is the second most popular browser after Internet Explorer. Packed full of useful extras, it has been designed specifically for ease of use. Mozilla contains loads of add-ons and extensions that will further enhance and improve your time online. The Firefox browser is recommended for those that want lots options and choices laid out in a simple to use format.
Google Chrome
Following the success of Firefox, Google - the search engine giant - decided to apply the same principals of design that is the hallmark of their search engine to the Chrome browser. It features a super fast, slick interface with a multitude of colorful themes. Simplicity at it's finest, Chrome is great for those that need a simple browser without all the confusing clutter that unfortunately is the bane of other browsers.
