Senior Design Principles: Useful Field of View

by Max Baumgarten on May 25, 2010 · 0 comments

Product designers can’t assume that seniors will notice all of the objects that fall within a normal useful field of view. To create a product with elder friendly features, it is important that a product’s essential features corresponds with the user’s optimal view. Essential features should be centralized, not on the periphery. Take for example a car’s dashboard. The most important information on the dashboard, the speedometer, should be placed directly in front of the driver’s seat, so it is always in his/her field of view.
